Licence to Drive a Heavy Rigid Vehicle

Cost: $1,350.00 (C class to HRb), $1,250.00 (LR to HRb) or $1,150.00 (MR to HRb), please enquire for HR open

*note:  NATA can included one re-assessment into your HR package at $150.00 additional to the basic package rate specified above.  This is a kind of 'insurance' to potentially save you the full cost of a re-assessment ($500.00).  Please contact us for more details.

This unit is Nationally Recognised and criteria cover all aspects of your HR Licence.  Our truck is an HR class manual vehicle, loaded to to 75% GVM.  Please contact us before undertaking MVR's learner permit test.   NATA offer a comprehensive training and assessment service which includes a theory assessment.

Please be aware that for class HR you must be able to drive a manual vehicle to have a realistic chance of passing the final competency test.

The course consists of one unit of competency which may be conducted in one session or over a number of sessions as required by the individual student:

  • Four hour Intake for delivery of the theory component
  • Theory test is attempted before Intake, the test is marked and any corrections will be discussed at Intake
  • Practical Training, where your knowledge of theory and practical skills are tested, is delivered in a 2014 Isuzu FVZ Long, loaded to 75% GVM and a 9-speed gearbox.
  • For HR'b', practical training may be delivered in one session, or as booked, up to 7 hours (c-HR'b'), 6 hours (LR-HR'b') or 5 hours (MR-HR'b') are included in your program.  For open HR, please contact our office for more details.
  • Assessment consists of an MVR test comprising a 45 minute on road component, along an MVR approved route, and other off-road components which test the essential elements of Heavy Vehicle on-road management

You will be issued a Heavy Vehicle Driving Test form and Statement of Attainment on successful completion of your course.  The test and Statement are valid for 12 months from the date of issue for use to upgrade your licence at any branch of NT MVR.  You may choose to pick up your statement after course completion, or NATA will mail your statement to your nominated address.

Licence to Drive a Medium Rigid Vehicle

Course Code: TLILIC2015

Cost: $1,075.00 (c class to MR) or $975.00 (LR to MR)

Licence to Drive a Light Rigid Vehicle

Course Code: TLILIC2014

Cost: $850.00 using our vehicle, $650.00 using your vehicle

This unit is Nationally Recognised and criteria cover all aspects of your LR Licence.  You have the option to use our vehicle or supply a suitable class vehicle, if it's a truck it will need a load of of 75% GVM, for a bus no load is required.  Please contact us to discuss.

The course consists of one unit of competency which may be conducted in one session or over a number of sessions as required by the individual student:

  • Four hour Intake, which covers the theory component and may be conducted at NATA, or course materials may be delivered to you for completion in your own time.
  • Theory test is attempted before Intake, the test is marked and any corrections are discussed at Intake.
  • Practical Training, where your knowledge of theory and practical skills are tested
  • Practical training is delivered in one session, or two sessions as booked.
  • Assessment is a 45 minute on road component along an MVR approved test route and other off road components which test the essential elements of vehicle on-road management
  • Licence outcome is an NT LR Driver Licence

Licence to Drive a Heavy Combination Vehicle

Course Code: TLILIC3017

Cost: $1,450.00 (HR to HC), $2,1000.00 (MR to HC)

This unit is Nationally Recognised and criteria cover all aspects of your HC Licence.  Our truck is a 2010 DAF CF85 3 axle prime mover, with a fully automated gearbox.  Your base licence for class HC licence is your HR licence, and any HR gearbox condition will be transferred upon upgrade. To upgrade your base licence (ie. to remove any gearbox condition) you need to be re-tested in a HR vehicle with the appropriate gearbox.

HR to HC standard two day licence upgrade the minimum course cost is $1,450.00 where our DAF is used.  Where you are upgrading your current licence from MR, the minimum cost for a two day course is is $2,100.00.  Extra lessons may be booked at $220.00 per hour (GST inc. where applicable).

You will be issued an MVR Test Sheet and a Statement of Attainment on successful completion of your course, these are valid for 12 months from date of issue for use to upgrade your licence at any branch of NT MVR.

Cost: $1,450.00 (HC to MC), $2,100.00 (HR to MC)

This unit is Nationally Recognised and criteria cover all aspects of your MC Licence.  Our truck is a 2010 DAF CF85 3 axle prime mover, with a fully automated gearbox.  Your base licence for class MC upgrades is your HR or HC licence, and any HR/HC gearbox condition will be transferred on upgrade.  To upgrade your base licence (ie. to remove any gearbox condition) you need to be re-tested in a HR vehicle with the appropriate gearbox.
